Here are some hints and tips for you when you audition for us or anyone else!

Feel free to add your own hints and tips!

Things You'll Need

The ability to commit yourself to the production. Be ready to show up for rehearsals on time and ready to work.

A good attitude, a friendly personality, and the confidence to be around people. RDK jr is a great way to boost your confidence if you are new to the stage.

Dressing properly (looking nice in comfortable, appropriate clothing) can give you a good impression with the directors,

Usually there is a chance during the audition for you to warm-up,but I would also suggest that you do preparation for singing on your own beforehand. Drinking lemon water is a good (and tasty) way to ensure that your voice is in tip top shape for singing that day.

Audition Day!

On audition day, be on time, prepared with whatever the director asks you to bring, For example, at our auditions you will need a  head-shot of yourself, list of experience on stage and other performing you may have done.

Of course you are nervous, don't worry! As long as you don't run out of the audition in fright, or make the directors think you are wasting their time, it will be okay, Keep going! If you are talented enough for the part, a good director will see that under any shakiness. (And besides, the more you audition for shows, the better you get at keeping calm.) ALWAYS act like you know what you're doing! Even when you don't...tongue

Smile and enjoy the audition process: the director and audition team want you to do well.

Show good behavior: directors are often as concerned with how you behave as how well you sing, dance or act. They need to be sure they will be able to work with you easily.

Trust the director's choices: do your best at what ever they ask you to do, even if you are reading  for a role that you find challenging or awkward.

Making the Best of Casting Decisions

Trust the director's judgement. The director is casting an ensemble, not just one or two "lead" roles. It is important for the cast to understand the importance of working together as an ensemble and to see the production as a whole - not as individual parts that seem less or more important than others.

Remind yourself that everyone's contribution is important and valued.

As the famous Russian director and acting teacher

Konstanti Stanislovski (1863-1938) once said:

"There are no small parts, only small actors!"
